Abstract

This essay discusses the heritage of Freud’s Beyond the Pleasure Principle and its interpretation by Jacques Lacan and Gilles Deleuze. What’s beyond the pleasure principle? Death drive, sexual drive or a strange mixture of both? The purpose of this essay is to analyze the relationship between death drive and sexual drive retracing first of all their difficult location in Freudian and Lacanian thought.
